About

Salma Ali is an Egyptian-American illustrator born and raised in coastal Virginia. Drawing ever since she could hold a pencil, in her early years she attended a visual arts school for many years and received national accolades for her art. Eager to intertwine her creative and artistic inclinations with a flourishing interest in science and technology, Salma pursued and subsequently earned a Ph.D. relating to technology design and innovation. Throughout her research pursuits in academia and the technology sector, art remained a steadfast companion. She found her way into digital illustration in 2017, practicing any chance that she could and discovering that a career in illustration was a viable path.

Since then, she has been creating playful and endearing characters and stories inspired by her Arab and Egyptian heritage, Muslim faith, fascination with nature, and childhood Saturday morning cartoon marathons. Her artistic journey reflects a harmonious blend of diverse influences, resulting in playful narratives that resonate with her unique cultural identity and professional experiences.
